2011 Youth Commonwealth Games

Four of the six gymnasts, chosen as part of Youth Team Scotland to compete in the 2011 Youth Commonwealth Games, Isle of Man, 6 - 13 September 2011, are from the City of Glasgow Gymnastics Club. This is an outstanding indication of the talent prevalent in this facility amongst the gymnasts and the quality of coaching that they receive.

The chosen four are Liam Davie, Douglas Ross, Carly Smith and Cara Kennedy. Coach Marius Gherman will also attend as the men’s coach at the games.

Further medal successes

Congratulations to Orla Gallacher becoming the Northern Ireland Junior Champion for 2011 on 5th June and Amy Regan on winning gold at the Greater Manchester Open over the weekend of 11/12 June 2011.

First time competitors

Twenty-one City of Glasgow girls competed in the Fife Open Network Floor & Vault Competition on Saturday 6th October 2010 at the Duloch Sports Centre in Dunfermline. For many of the girls this was their first ever competition. One team was entered in the 6-7 years age group, finishing 2nd overall. Very well done girls. From the pictures it looks as though you were all enjoying yourselves.

Fantastic results for Amy and Ryan

Congratulations to Amy Regan and Ryan Mckee who both had great results at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. Both gymnasts qualified for the all around finals where Ryan finisihed 17th and Amy 21st, Amy also qualified for floor finals and finished in 4th place - two very talented gymnasts to look out for in the future. Everyone at the club is very proud of both gymnasts.
